Lyon star tipped to join Bayern: “Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Man City – those are the clubs where he belongs”

The Belgian winger has been tipped to join Bayern or a major Premier League club by his outspoken agent.

Olympique Lyon’s Malick Fofana – a transfer target of Bayern Munich in summer – has been linked to the Bavarians by his own agent’s admission. 

“This is the season Fofana wants to show himself to the world, especially at the World Cup,” Frederico Pena, told Belgian show ‘Het Laatste Nieuws’. 

“If he succeeds, he can go from Lyon to a top 10 club. We strongly believe in him. Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Man City – those are the clubs where he belongs,” he added. 

Prior to Bayern signing Liverpool winger Luis Díaz, several other wide attackers were linked to the German record champions – Fofana being one in particular.

The Bavarians even reached a verbal agreement with the 20-year-old. However, the move broke down when Lyon demanded €40million for the young star. 

According to his agent Pena in the interview, Fofana felt “highly valued in Lyon” at the time and “didn’t want to jeopardize that [relationship]” with the Ligue 1 club.
