Mainoo, Garnacho and Rashford ALL OUT! Man Utd eye sales before crunch deadline

Manchester United could sell Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford during a remarkable January transfer window, with rivals believing that the possibility of landing the trio is very much alive.

Man Utd face race against time to stay within the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and are ready to sell three of their brightest talents in a bid to avoid a summer fire sale, according to The Telegraph.

Mainoo, Garnacho and Rashford have all been earmarked for sales by owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is aware of the potential severe penalties that club faces should it fail to stay within the Premier League’s financial rules.

As such, this has fuelled the belief of buying clubs that deals for the trio will be possible this month, with United keen to avoid the possibility of being forced into sale early in the summer to avoid PSR penalties.

The deadline of 30 June became notable last season as many rushed deals were pushed through, with the likes of Newcastle’s Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh going to Nottingham Forest and Brighton respectively, while Aston Villa sold Douglas Luiz to Juventus.

Man Utd trio up for sale

There are no shortage of suitors for Rashford, Mainoo and Garnacho, which could allow Man Utd to conduct a transfer that would give them some breathing space with regards PSR.

While Rashford’s move to AC Milan has wobbled in recent hours, The Telegraph reports that Monaco also want to sign the 27-year-old.

Mainoo would arguably be the most valuable of the trio after enjoying a breakthrough 2024, with Chelsea hot on the tail of the central midfielder.

Garnacho, meanwhile, would court interest should he become available, with reports that Atletico Madrid could move for the Argentina international winger.

The Telegraph has suggested that United face a PSR struggle after making a losses of £113.2 million in 2023/24 and £28.7m in 2022/23. Anything over £105m across a three-year period, meanwhile, will trigger a penalty, meaning the Old Trafford side will likely have to register a healthy profit to avoid this scenario.
