Mainz announce contract extension for Mwene

Mainz have extended Philipp Mwene’s contract beyond the summer.

Philipp Mwene has signed a new contract with Mainz, extending his stay beyond the end of the season.

Die Nullfünfer confirmed the deal on Thursday without disclosing the length of the contract.

“Phillipp has been an important part of our squad for a number of years now, both on the pitch and in the dressing room. He is an outstanding character and has earned great merit for our club through his performances and dedication. All the more reason why we’re delighted Phillipp will be staying with us beyond the summer,” said Mainz sporting director Niko Bungert.

Mwene, who has scored four goals and provided 10 assists in 109 appearances for Mainz, added:

“I’m delighted to have extended by contract at 1. FSV Mainz 05. The club and the fans place a lot of trust in me, which means a great deal. I feel at home here and am highly motivated to continue giving my all for the team and our shared goals.”
