Paolo Maldini was the focal point of the Milan fan protests this evening, which even saw a supporter taken away by stewards for aggressively wafting his jersey at club directors.

The final game of the Serie A season for the Rossoneri was against already relegated Monza at San Siro, so there was more interest in what was happening in the stands than on the pitch.

This included the ultras arranging themselves in the message ‘Go Home’ in the stands, lighting it up with their phones and then walking out after 20 minutes.

Before they stormed out, there was a curious moment when the crowd applauded as a supporter was escorted away by stewards.

This was because he was wearing the Maldini 3 jersey, but held another that he waved aggressively in the direction of the club directors.

They were considered responsible for the decision to sack the club icon in the summer of 2023, when he had been the technical director since 2019.

A few minutes later, according to DAZN, there was further applause because the supporter was allowed to return to his seat.

The stewards evidently realised that waving a jersey was insufficient reason to kick him out of the stadium.
