As reported by local publication Ruhr Nachrichten, the Dutchman is not in the squad due to a thigh problem.
Malen has missed four of Dortmund’s last five games in all competitions, including both Champions League quarter-final games against Atletico Madrid.
Dortmund, in fifth place, will move level on points with fourth-placed RB Leipzig if they manage to inflict a first defeat of the season on Bayer Leverkusen.
