Bellingham celebrates with the Real Madrid fans

After speaking with great maturity after the game, Bellingham then celebrates with the Real Madrid fans who absolutely love him.

There are a few fist bumps before he heads down the tunnel. The 20-year-old sensation has a semi-final to look forward to.

Jude Bellingham: ‘It just came down to mentality’

Both teams were shattered by the end, and Bellingham believes it ‘came down to mentality’.

He also speaks of his pride at being able to play in front of his family in England tonight.

Jude Bellingham: ‘Ancelotti lets the boys play with freedom’

Bellingham says Ancelotti fills you with ‘calmness and confidence’ and says the Italian allows the team to play ‘off the cuff’.

He even jokes that he caught Ancelotti yawning before the game!

Jude Bellingham: ‘I was dead on my feet at the end’

Bellingham has come to speak to the TNT Sports team and has admitted he was knackerd at the end, but he still stepped up to score his penalty.

He admits the main emotion is ‘relief’ after a ‘tough game’ against the defending champions.

Real Madrid enjoy knocking the champions off their perch

Ecstasy for Real Madrid, agony for Man City

Pure jubilation for Real Madrid as they just did enough to get through.

For City, that will hurt. They now need to pick themselves up for their FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea on Saturday.

Rio Ferdinand hails Real Madrid stars for embracing responsibility

Ferdinand told TNT Sports: ‘That badge weighs heavy but they seem to be a team that take it on. The young players want to get up with the icons, replicate what they have done.

‘They showed the will, they were not at their best, but they defended well, a boxer, punch drunk. It is about mindset, not all technique. I want that responsibility.

‘There wasn’t much between the two, little margins get you through.’

Real Madrid make the semi-finals again

You just can’t count them out ever!

Madrid battled for two hours tonight to take it to penalties, and then kept their nerve in the shootout.

Warm embrace between Guardiola and Ancelotti

A great Champions League tie and there is nothing but respect between Guardiola and Ancelotti as they hug one another at full time.

Meanwhile, the Madrid players are clebrating in front of their travelling fans.

Calm as you like from the Englishman.

That’s the best penalty of the lot, right into the corner.

It’s another poor penalty as Lunin dives to his right and holds on from Kovacic’s spot-kick.

Ederson guesses right and parries away. Advantage City!

Man City 1-0 Real Madrid (Alvarez scores)

Lunin goes to his right, Alvarez goes the other way. City go in front.

Here we go then…

It’s City to go first, Julian Alvarez steps up…

Who will take the penalties?

You’d say Haaland and De Bruyne would normally take one, but they’re no longer on the pitch.

Who’s putting their hand up here?

Man City 1-1 Real Madrid (agg 4-4)

Doku’s cross rebounds back off him and out for a goal kick.

We are heading to penalties.

It seems it’s actually worse than cramp as Carvajal goes off. Not a bad replacement in Eder Militao, though.

False start for him as he runs on with a chain round his neck. Can’t wear that pal, as he is sent back to take it off.

Man City 1-1 Real Madrid (agg 4-4)

Some boos for Bellingham after that earlier collision with Dias.

Carvajal now down with cramp. We’ve got that stage in the game.

Are we heading to penalties?

Still nothing to separate these two sides.

Man City 1-1 Real Madrid (agg 4-4)

The pattern of the game has not changed a bit.

City still dominating possession, Madrid sitting back and soaking up pressure.

Can they keep holding firm?

Man City 1-1 Real Madrid (agg 4-4)

A concerning start to extra time as Bellingham runs to close down Ederson and goes straight into Dias.

Don’t think it was deliberate but it was a hefty collision. Bellingham is not happy at all as he receives treatment, but he finally gets back to his feet.

Extra time begins…

We are back underway and there has been a big change for City. Haaland is off and on comes Alvarez.

We are heading for extra time!

City have one final corner but the ball hits Haaland and flies harmlessly over the bar.

Who fances another 30 minutes of this?

Man City 1-1 Real Madrid (agg 4-4)

Mendy can consider himself unlucky as he dives in and wins the ball against Walker but the referee doesn’t like the follow through and books him.

Man City 1-1 Real Madrid (agg 4-4)

He’s scored some great goals and he fancies another as Rodri lets fly from 25 yards.

It’s a scruffy effort, though, and dribbles through to Lunin.

Four minutes of added time.

Man City 1-1 Real Madrid (agg 4-4)

It’s all Man City. Real Madrid cannot get out.

Didn’t quite happen for Grealish despite the winger getting into some promising positions.

He fires an effort towards goal but Lunin sticks out a big left hand and then gathers the loose ball.

What a horrible goal to concede that would have been!

A mix-up between Lunin and Nacho, and the Real Madrid captain is all of a sudden in danger of scoring an own goal. But he keeps his cool and just clears away under pressure from Haaland.

From the resulting corner, Lunin punches away unconvincingly and Foden fires back in, but Lunin gets back to gather the shot.

Man City 0-1 Real Madrid (agg 3-4)

Just signs that Madrid are feeling the pressure a little bit as Camavinga puts the ball out of play with no one around him.

Grealish seeing plenty of the ball, but City just missing that final pass right now. Silva puts in another cross, but straight into the gloves of Lunin. Cue groans around the ground.

Man City 0-1 Real Madrid (agg 3-4)

City straight back on the front foot, and they win an early corner.

The ball is headed out to the edge of the box and Grealish catches it on the volley well, but Lunin parries the ball away to safety.

Real Madrid get us back underway…

The teams are back out…

No changes for now from either side.

Jude Bellingham’s touch in the build-up to Real Madrid’s goal

He’s a special player, and this was a special touch from Bellingham just moments before Real Madrid took the lead.

Man City fans boo the Champions League anthem

Before the game got underway, City fans booed the Champions League anthem, as has become customary due to the club feeling hard done by when it comes to dealing with UEFA in the past.

They will not be around to boo the anthem in the semi-finals unless they score at least once in the second half.

Penny for Pep’s thoughts

What will the City boss be thinking right now?

His side are just 45 minutes away from going out of the Champions League. Will he consider any changes at the break?

Big half time team talk coming up for Guardiola.

Man City 0-1 Real Madrid (agg 3-4)

City continuing to ramp up the pressure and De Bruyne goes for goal from a corner but Lunin tips it away.

City then work a small opening for Foden, but his curling effort drifts over.

Two minutes of added time at the end of the half.

Man City 0-1 Real Madrid (agg 3-4)

Rodrygo goes down and wants a free-kick but there’s nothing doing there.

He stays down to take some sting out of the game – a wise move.

Meanwhile, Akanji has just struggled a little with that hybrid role of going into midfield. Could Pep possibly turn to Stones off the bench in the second half?

Eduardo Camavinga, an absolute joy to watch.

First, Grealish gets into the box and tries a toe-poke that is deflected wide.

De Bruyne then gets a bit of space and has a go from the edge of the box but it goes well over the bar.

Man City 0-1 Real Madrid (agg 3-4)

Madrid look dangerous every time they burst forward, and they briefly have a 3 v 2 here.

Valvered gets into the box and probably should put in a better ball, but his cross is cleared away by Gvardiol. Nervy times these for City.

Man City 0-1 Real Madrid (agg 3-4)

You do not want to give De Bruyne this much space.

He drives through the midfield and unleashes a shot from the edge of the box, but Lunin gets across to parry behind.

City work the corner to the back post and Haaland heads across goal but Lunin is there to gather once more.

Man City 0-1 Real Madrid (agg 3-4)

Real Madrid are countering very well and they create another half-chance here.

Vinicius bursts through and lays it off to Carvajal, but his shot is blocked and then Valverde fires a speculative effort over.

There is an anxious energy around the Etihad right now.

Once again it’s down the right hand side of the box, and De Bruyne crosses towards Haaland for a tap-in, but Lunin parries the ball away.

The ball comes back in and Haaland nods against the bar, before the ball bounces off Silva and wide. So close to an equaliser.

Man City 0-1 Real Madrid (agg 3-4)

City have responded well to the goal and force a couple of corners, but Madrid defend them well.

City then work the ball well down the left and Haaland gets on the end of Silva’s cross but can’t keep his header down.

GOAL! Man City 0-1 Real Madrid (agg 3-4) (Rodrygo)

Real Madrid are in front!

Bellingham brings the ball down and feeds Valverde who plays it on to Vinicius.

His cross finds Rodrygo who first effort is brilliantly saved by Ederson, but he’s on hand to tap home the rebound.

Man City 0-0 Real Madrid (agg 3-3)

Camavinga scored last week and he tries his luck from outside the box again here.

But Ederson gets down well and it’s a routine save. Madrid will be happy with how this game has started, though.

Man City 0-0 Real Madrid (agg 3-3)

Finally, City up the tempo and De Bruyne has space down the right flank.

There isn’t much to pick out in the box, though, and Lunin gets down well to claim the cross.

Here come the players…

We’ve just had Hey Jude being belted out at the Etihad, slightly strange given who is playing for Real Madrid tonight!

Walker and Nacho lead their teams out and we are just moments away from what promises to be a brilliant game.

A reminder of tonight’s teams…

Man City: Ederson, Walker, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol, Rodri, De Bruyne, Silva, Foden, Grealish, Haaland

Real Madrid: Lunin, Carvajal, Nacho, Rudiger, Mendy, Kroos, Camavinga, Valverde, Bellingham, Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr

Jack Gaughan at the Etihad Stadium…

Erling Haaland and Rodri have both received awards on the pitch from Luis Figo for their exploits in last year’s competition.

Rodri was player of the season and Haaland obviously the golden boot winner.

Seems a bit late in the day (13 minutes until kick off) and late in the season (April!) to be handing such accolades over…

Just 15 minutes until kick-off now.

Real Madrid fans making themselves heard already

There will be a couple of thousand Real Madrid fans at the Etihad and they are intent on making themselves heard.

Will their team give them plenty to cheer about?

Rio Ferdinand: ‘I can’t wait for this to start!’

Rio Ferdinand has just been asked who he is looking forward to seeing tonight and he originally said Jude Bellingham.

But he then mentioned Phil Foden, Vinicius Jr Kevin De Bruyne and Rodrygo, and who can blame him?

There’s a ridiculous amount of talent on show tonight, and kick-off is fast approaching.

Rio Ferdinand proud of Jude Bellingham’s remarkable rise in Spain

Jude Bellingham took the gamble of joining arguably the biggest club in the world last summer, but has handled the pressure brilliantly.

Could he be the difference-maker tonight?

Joleon Lescott: ‘Walker can make a huge difference’

Former Man City defender Joleon Lescott believes Kyle Walker returning is a massive boost for the holders.

He feels Walker’s recovery pace for Real Madrid’s counter-attacks will make a ‘huge difference’ tonight.

Look at that welcome for the Man City bus!

If the players didn’t know how big tonight’s game is, they do now.

They received a huge welcome from their fans on their way to the stadium a little earlier.

And so are Real Madrid – including Jude Bellingham

Man City fans grab selfies with Rio Ferdinand

He was the player City fans loved to hate when he was playing for Man United, but it’s all fun and games tonight with many supporters grabbing a selfie with the TNT Sports pundit before kick-off.

Big nights ahead for Walker and Nacho

So both captains come back into their respective teams after not playing last week.

It’s a big ask of Walker after just under a month on the sidelines, while Nacho will have the unenviable task of trying to keep Erling Haaland quiet.

Real Madrid show they are all in this together

Aurelien Tchouameni is suspended for tonight’s game after picking up a booking last week, but he has still travelled to today’s game to support his team-mates.

How big a miss will he prove to be this evening?

Two hours to go!

The countdown to kick-off is well and truly on.

No messing about from Real Madrid as they release their line-up over two hours before kick-off.

There is just one change from last week, with experienced defender Nacho coming in to captain the side in place of the suspended Aurelien Tchouameni.

Bellingham, Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo all start in a formidable-looking front three.

Bernardo Silva wants ANOTHER Treble

One simply won’t do, we want two!

Jude Bellingham opens up on move to Real Madrid

Florentino Perez arrives in Manchester

This is a huge night for Real Madrid as they seek revenge for the thrashing they took at the same stadium last year.

And club president Florentino Perez is in town to see if Madrid can pull off a stunning win against the defending champions.

Jude Bellingham speaks out on racist abuse in Spain

Jude Bellingham was the player put forward by Real Madrid to face the media yesterday.

The attacking midfielder was asked about racism in Spain, with his team-mates Vinicius Jr and Aurelien Tchouameni being targeted this season.

Bellingham branded the abuse ‘disgusting’ but admitted he has ‘got used to’ slurs since moving to Madrid last summer.

Whatever you do, don’t step on the club crest!

Real Madrid’s stars arrived in Manchester yesterday and had a walkaround on the Etihad pitch last night ahead of tonight’s showdown with City.

Footage has emerged of several players avoiding stepping on Man City’s club crest as they made their way out the tunnel.

It is supposed to be a mark of respect, but let’s just say fans haven’t been particularly impressed by the gesture…

Real Madrid fans at Old Trafford

When in Manchester, what should you do?

Well, some Real Madrid fans decided to pop to Old Trafford earlier today, the stadium of City’s bitter rivals, Man United.

Let’s hope they know where tonight’s game is actually taking place!

Pep Guardiola demanding a big performance

Man City blew Real Madrid away at home in last year’s semi-finals, winning 4-0 in one of the most complete performances we’ve seen in European football in years.

His team may need to reach a similar level tonight to progress and he knows it.

Why are Man City and Arsenal playing on the same night?

It was a cause of frustration last week… trying to keep up with two brilliant matches as Arsenal faced Bayern Munich and Man City took on Real Madrid at the same time.

There will be the same issue tonight, but there is a reason behind it, which Mail Sport can reveal…

Phil Foden vs Jude Bellingham

There will be individual battles all over the pitch tonight, and Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham will be looking to outdo each other in the No10 role for their respective teams.

Both men look certain to be key players for England at the Euros this summer, but who will shine brighter in the Champions League this evening?

Mail Sport has taken a look at their stats over the course of the season…
