Man City rule out move for second striker

No new forwards at City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has surprised many by indicating that the club’s transfer business for a new striker is done, and that the Cityzens will not be bringing in a backup forward for Erling Haaland. The sale of Julian Alvarez leaves a gap on the bench for a striker, but Guardiola is confident that he has enough resources to replace the Norwegian international.

Haaland missed a large chunk of last season through injury, but Guardiola will be hoping the same does not happen this campaign as no backup to the striker will be signed.

Guardiola told reporters, when asked about a transfer signing for a new striker: “Maybe it’s a mistake, I don’t know, but I like to work with not a long, long, long squad. I don’t like to leave a lot of players without playing for a long, long time.”

Man City‘s business on the transfer market is likely done, and no new faces will be brought to the Etihad Stadium before the transfer window slams shut this evening.
