Man City star Rayan Cherki pays heartwarming visit to young fan in hospital – and promises to dedicate his next celebration to supporter

Manchester City star Rayan Cherki paid a heartwarming visit to a young Manchester City fan in hospital this week.

The Frenchman, who has enjoyed a positive start to life in the Premier League after his £34million summer move from Lyon, visited the Leon Berard cancer center in Lyon.

There, he met a young fans, who taught him a new celebration to perform when he next scores. Cherki shared the snap to Instagram, writing: ‘Next celebration with the boss.’

The snap saw the 22-year-old, dressed in all white, stood next to the young fan, who was sat in a hospital bed. The celebration involves making a goggle-like gesture with both hands, with one placed in front of the eyes and the other out in front of the body.

Cherki will be hoping to perform the celebration this weekend, when City take on Leeds in their next Premier League match.

They are looking to win the Premier League again after conceding the title to Liverpool last year, but are up against it, with Arsenal currently top of the table by five points.

City, though, have a game in hand, and still have to play the Gunners at home – essentially putting the title in their hands.

Cherki has been a key part of the City side making a title charge, registering nine goals and nine assists in 34 games since signing.

Just 19 of those appearances, however, have been starts as he looks to nail down a place in his side’s starting 11.

City players were seemingly given some time off this week, with manager Pep Guardiola paying a visit to former club Brescia on Sunday – seemingly opting to snub watching Arsenal in the north London derby.

The former midfielder, after leading his side to a 2-1 victory over Newcastle in the Premier League on Saturday, jetted to Italy to watch the Serie C side in action against Pro Patria.

City have a rare free midweek before they return to action at Elland Road on Saturday.
