Manchester City striker Khadija Shaw was left in disbelief after picking up a bizarre yellow card in her side’s 2-1 win over Hammarby on Thursday night.
Shaw put City in front in the 31st minute of their Champions League match as she cut in from the left before hitting a right-foot shot that took a big deflection and looped over the goalkeeper.
The Jamaican forward walked towards the home fans after scoring with her arms outstretched, but her celebration was cut short as she was struck by an object thrown onto the pitch.
As her team-mates gathered to congratulate her, Shaw was astonished to turn around and see the referee booking her.
It is unclear as to the reason behind the caution, but some fans speculated on social media that Shaw may have been reprimanded for over-celebrating in front of the Hammarby fans.
However, replays suggested that Shaw had not deliberately provoked the home crowd in Sweden, and she argued her case to the referee alongside City captain Alex Greenwood.

Shaw turned around to find out she had been booked by the referee, but she went on to have the last laugh by scoring the winning goal in the second half
It looked like things were turning against City when they conceded an equaliser just three minutes after half time.
But Shaw had the last laugh as she netted the winning goal in the 52nd minute.
The result booked City’s spot in the Champions League quarter-finals with two group games to spare.
Gareth Taylor’s side have won all four of their Champions League games this season, including against defending champions Barcelona.
They join fellow English clubs Chelsea and Arsenal in the last eight, but Thursday’s win may have been slightly soured by Shaw’s strange booking.
