Man City superfan Noel Gallagher celebrates with supporters in the away end as the champions move one point behind leaders Arsenal with 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest

Noel Gallagher was spotted celebrating in the crowd with the away fans during Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest, as the famous Citizens fan enjoyed the trip to the City Ground.

Josko Gvardiol and Erling Haaland scored the goals for the visitors on Sunday that kept the pressure on leaders Arsenal, who are now one point ahead having played a game more than City.

It was far from plain sailing for City, although they ultimately won by a clear margin, as Chris Wood notably spurned a number of chances in front of goal, but at full-time it was the champions that took the points.

With the title race set to come down to the wire, it will come as no surprise to many that superfan Gallagher was in the stands to watch his side.

The former Oasis star was spotted among the travelling fans, arm in arm cheering his team on as they took on the relegation-threatened hosts.

One fan in particular appeared to take great pleasure in spotting the megastar in the away end

One supporter in particular seemed to take great pleasure in spotting the megastar, posing for pictures with Gallagher with their arm in the air in the away end.

However it was not all jubilation for the visiting fans, with Gallagher also seen watching on with a hint of stress, perhaps as his side poked and prodded for the opener in the first half hour of the clash.

That goal did eventually come through Gvardiol, who got up highest at the corner to turn it in at the near post from an acute angle on 32 minutes.

‘It was really tough,’ the Croatian later told Sky Sports. ‘We knew from the beginning of the game it was going to be like this, especially with the pitch, it was really dry.

‘This is a more than important three points and we go back home.

‘It was my second goal in the league, I didn’t expect I was going to score but I found myself in a good position and it was a good goal in the end.

‘We need to focus on ourselves. There’s four more finals to the end. Let’s do it.’

Goal-scoring machine Haaland retook the lead in the Golden Boot race from Cole Palmer with his goal off the bench to take his tally to 21 in just 27 games, having also provided another five assists.

Gallagher appeared concerned as he watched on at points, perhaps as his side looked for the all-important opener

Gallagher is perhaps the club’s most famous fan and will have enjoyed his side’s result on Sunday taking three points back up to Manchester

After missing the last two games through injury, Haaland took only nine minutes to get back among the goals, and was quick to joke ‘it’s good to be back’.

‘First of all it was an important win, that’s the most important thing. It doesn’t matter how we did it, it’s about winning and it’s good to be back.

‘We know where they are in the league so we knew it was going to be a fight, and it’s not the easiest pitch to play on, but we can’t complain about that. It’s about winning and that’s exactly what we did.

‘The most important thing is not to think in these moments. It’s about taking it day-by-day. Honestly, if you overthink it you’re going to be crazy in the head. Relax, enjoy, and go to the next one.’
