Earlier this week, Arsenal were said to be leading the charge for Omar Marmoush, but the Bundesliga sensation is now seemingly close to a blockbuster move to Manchester City.

The Eintracht Frankfurt striker has been irresistible this term. The strongest contender for the Bundesliga Player of the Season award so far, Marmoush has taken his game to another level in every conceivable way.

The 25-year-old has netted 18 goals and provided 12 assists in just 24 appearances across all competitions so far, which has been the biggest reason behind Frankfurt’s surge up the Bundesliga table this season.

The Eagles headed into the winter break in third thanks to Marmoush’s contribution and the Egyptian is unsurprisingly attracting Premier League attention.

It is no secret that the versatile striker dreams of playing in England and this dream could be realised before long.

Marmoush to City?

There have been a lot of conflicting reports on Marmoush’s future in recent weeks. Sky Germany has insisted that Liverpool have already held talks with his camp, which English sources have played down.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that Arsenal had surged past Liverpool into pole position for Marmoush, but now several sources, including from his native Egypt, suggest that the 25-year-old is on his way to Man City instead.

Egyptian outlet Youm7 asserts that it is already ‘official’ that Marmoush will join the reigning Premier League champions, but journalist Ben Jacobs has urged to pump the brakes on this kind of reporting.

He states that while City do hold an interest in Marmoush, they have yet to hold talks with Frankfurt. A deal, especially in January, will prove difficult to realise as the Bundesliga side, naturally, do not want to sell mid-season.

Frankfurt know that they won’t be able to hold onto Marmoush forever, with club director Markus Krosche admitting that they will sell at the right price, but they have been in talks with the player’s camp over a potential contract extension.

While the Egyptian is keen on a Premier League move, he values the environment he has in Frankfurt, though whether that will be enough to convince him to extend his stay remains to be seen.
