Man United £72m flop Rasmus Hojlund ‘targeted by TWO Serie A giants’ this summer after struggles under Ruben Amorim

Man United £72m flop Rasmus Hojlund ‘targeted by TWO Serie A giants’ this summer after struggles under Ruben Amorim

Rasmus Hojlund has reportedly attracted interest from top-level European clubs, despite his miserable campaign for Manchester United last season.

Hojlund, 22, has struggled since moving to Old Trafford from Atlanta in 2023 for £72million and scored just four goals in 32 Premier League games in 2024-25.

His difficult year was epitomised by a 22 hours and 19 minute-long goal drought in all competitions – a barren run that stretched 22 games and three months between December and March.

Hojlund’s contract does not expire until June 2028 with an option for a further year but his future appears uncertain.

The Dane is keen to fight for his place at United, and the only way a sale will happen is if the club decide that he has to go. But with the summer arrival of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo’s pending £71m transfer from Brentford, this is a real possibility.

If Hojlund is deemed a surplus to requirements under Ruben Amorim, two Serie A clubs may consider a move for him, according to CalcioMercato.

AC Milan and Juventus are reportedly both weighing up moves for striker Rasmus Hojlund

Juventus and AC Milan are both weighing up moves for Hojlund, but are each yet to table a formal offer.

United initially set the striker’s value at around £40m but no suitors approached, leading them to consider loan moves with a more economical option to buy.

For Juventus, Hojlund could emerge as a fallback option in a summer reshuffle that hinges on the departure of Dusan Vlahovic.

The Bianconeri are actively looking to offload the Serbian striker and replace him with Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani.

The Frenchman is considered a priority, and the plan is to partner him with Jonathan David, with Juve eyeing a three-man strikeforce to avoid scrambling for depth come January.

However, if the market proves difficult or if moves for Kolo Muani and David stall, Hojlund could become a realistic target.

Meanwhile, AC Milan are keeping a close eye on the same domino effect. The Rossoneri, who are also monitoring the Vlahovic situation, are considering Hojlund as a potential alternative to other targets.

Former Lazio sporting director Igli Tare, now involved in Milan’s recruitment strategy, is said to have made direct contact with United to gather details on the No 9’s availability and terms.
