Man United ‘could welcome back FIVE injured stars’ after the international break – as Ruben Amorim is handed major boost ahead of run-in

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim could reportedly be set for several welcome injury boosts following the international break.

Amorim, 40, has endured a difficult start to his tenure at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils winning six – and losing eight – of his 18 Premier League games in charge.

United languish in 13th in the top flight, but Amorim’s side have shown signs of improvement in recent weeks having not lost a game in normal time for seven matches. Their most recent defeat came on penalties in the FA Cup fifth round against Fulham earlier this month.

The Portuguese’s time at the club has also been made more difficult through a lengthy injury list, with 10 players unavailable for United’s 3-0 victory over Leicester City before the international break.

For the clash with the Foxes, Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Jonny Evans, Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton were all out injured, while Patrick Dorgu missed out through suspension.

In fact, on their nine-man bench at the King Power Stadium, only Joshua Zirkzee, Casemiro and Mason Mount – who himself has only just returned from three months out – were senior options, with two academy goalkeepers in Dermot Mee and Elyh Harrison among the substitutes.

United are set for a hectic final few months of their campaign where they could potentially play up to 14 games, meaning their squad depth will be crucial during the run-in.

And, according to the Manchester Evening News, Amorim may be welcoming five stars back to his squad when the action resumes next week.

The report claims that for United’s trip to the City Ground on April 1, Maguire, Yoro and Mainoo could all return to the squad.

There is also a chance that Ayden Heaven, who was carried off on a stretcher during the Leicester game, may feature, with the defender set to return to training following the international break.

The Arsenal youth product, who joined the Red Devils in January, has impressed across his four appearances, but was seen in a protective boot following the win against the Foxes.

Similarly, Diallo, who was previously expected to be absent for the rest of the campaign, could return much sooner than expected.

Diallo had been one of the standout stars for United in 2024-25 but damaged ankle ligaments in training last month and underwent surgery.

However, he provided some much-needed positive news for the Red Devils in the form of a cryptic post on his Snapchat

On Monday night, the winger shared a picture of himself playing for United with an hourglass emoji and a smiling emoji accompanying it, with fans believing this was a hint that he was nearing a return to action.

It must be noted that Heaven remains a doubt for the Forest clash and Diallo is likely to be out for a little longer.

However, the potential availability of the pair before the end of the season – plus Yoro, Maguire and Mainoo returning – will be warmly received by Amorim as he hopes to rescue United’s season.
