According to The Manchester Evening News, some United players are waiting to see what transpires with the Dutch manager before deciding on their own futures.

United’s torrid campaign could end as their worst in the Premier League era. They are currently four points worse off at this stage than in the 2013-14 season under David Moyes when they finished seventh with 64 points.

Despite the rumours swirling around him, publicly Ten Hag has remained bullish on his future prospects.

Last week, he urged the club to install an executive team that can deliver his transfer targets this summer, in an apparent signal of his confidence he will remain as manager.

It’s understood that Ineos remain undecided over Ten Hag’s position at Old Trafford, but acknowledge he has been let down by a failing system at the club.

While Ten Hag privately accepts there are no guarantees over the future for him and his coaching staff until new director of football Dan Ashworth takes over, the Dutchman is under the impression that he will keep his job.

The coach has gained a reputation for his hardlined approach, having ushered Cristiano Ronaldo and Jaden Sancho out the door following disciplinary infractions.

Ten Hag reportedly held talks with Alejandro Garnacho after the youngster liked two posts on social media criticising the manager

He could be about to face his latest confrontation after reportedly holding talks with Alejandro Garnacho, after the youngster liked two posts on social media criticising his manager.

Tweets from Mark Goldbridge, host of renowned fan channel the United Stand, slammed Ten Hag for his decision to withdraw Garnacho, and for implying the Argentine’s work rate was a reason for taking him off during a post-match interview.
