Manchester United are to swap shirt sponsors for a game in aid of charity.
For their clash with West Ham on May 10, Ruben Amorim’s side will sport the (RED) logo on the front of their red jerseys, instead of current backer Snapdragon.
As part of the existing deal, the US technologies firm can nominate a charity to feature for one match per season. And they have opted for (RED), which campaigns to strengthen health systems in the most vulnerable places on the planet.
United’s women’s side will also switch logos when they face Arsenal on May 11. The one-off shirts will then go on sale, with profits matches by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Qualcomm Technologies, who own the Snapdragon brand, have made the decision. (RED) has generated more than $785million (£684m) since its founding in 2006.
Don McGuire, from Qualcomm Incorporated, said: ‘We believe that Snapdragon technology can help change the world, and we are proud to support (RED) and its mission to eradicate health injustice.

Snapdragon are the regular sponsor on the front of the shirts worn by Bruno Fernandes and Co.

(RED) campaigns to strengthen health systems in the most vulnerable places on the planet
‘As the front of shirt partner for Manchester United, we understand the power of the team’s front of shirt placement, with one Manchester United Premier League match providing the same exposure as a championship level sporting event, and we couldn’t think of a better organization to spotlight for the more than one billion Manchester United fans than (RED).’
Omar Berrada, United chief executive, added: ‘Through the power and innovation of our relationship with Qualcomm Technologies we are proud to use the front of the Manchester United shirt to tell the story of the vital work undertaken by (RED) to fight against health injustice.
‘Qualcomm Technologies shares our ambition to use football as a force for good and this activation underlines that aspiration, especially at a time when the world faces enormous challenges in helping the most vulnerable in society.’
