Inside the Man United dressing room…

Erik ten Hag wrote in his programme notes: ‘All this week, the excitement around Carrington has been obvious.

Moyes re-ignites attempts to sign Maguire

Harry Maguire’s £30million move to West Ham broke down earlier this summer but it looks like the Hammers could go back in for the Man United defender.

The 31-year-old hasn’t featured in United’s last three matches due to injury but is set to make his return for the Red Devils and will start on the bench for today’s match.

West Ham are reportedly set to try to negotiate a cut-price deal for the defender and will table offers of around £20m – with Maguire’s contract set to expire in 2025.

Around the ground…

It’s a clear and crisp day in Manchester – perfect for a game of football!

Fans have been arriving at Old Trafford ahead of this blockbuster match.

Liverpool starting XI

It’s St Patrick’s day after all and Liverpool are set to turn out in their green away strip.

Ryan Gravenberch returns to the side following an injury, with Conor Bradley making way for Virgil van Dijk, while Joe Gomez looks set to start at right back.

Man United starting XI

Erik ten Hag will welcome back all of Rasmus Hojlund, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Mason Mount from injury for today’s match, with the trio having been sidelined in recent months.

Harry Maguire also returns for United after the defender had been absent for their last three matches. He’ll start on the bench for today’s match.

Tyson Fury gives his verdict on the game

‘I think it’s going to be an absolute classic!’, said the WBC Heavyweight champion, who was stood next to the pitch at Old Trafford.

Fury, a Man United supporter, gave his score predictions too, claiming ‘I’m a United fan so I’m going to go with the Reds and I’m going to say 3-2.’

The boxer added that he was wearing green, not just for St Patrick’s day but for ‘luck’.

‘Liverpool are an on form team so we’ll need a bit of luck to defeat them,’ he added.

Team news coming up soon!

We’re expecting the team sheets to arrive in the next ten minutes!

Harry Maguire, Rasmus Hojlund and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are all likely to feature, while Diogo Jota and Ryan Gravenberch could be set to return for Liverpool.

There’s also been a bit of transfer gossip earlier this morning that both sides could be set to go head-to-head to sign one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting young talents.

Liverpool are in the house!

A few boos for the visitors who stepped off the bus at Old Trafford.

Fresh from his Cheltenham triumph!

Sir Alex Ferguson was pictured arriving at Old Trafford for the match today.

The legendary United manager has enjoyed a fine week at Cheltenham with two of his horses riding to victory.

Will his former side wrap up what coould be a perfect week for the Scotsman?

Ten Hag backs injury stricken star Mount

While Mason Mount has endured a tough start to life at Old Trafford, having been sidelined multiple times with several injuries, Erik ten Hag has continued to back the midfielder throughout.

The Man United boss sees the Englishman as one player who can push the Red Devils forward in the future

I’m convinced he will be [akey player]. He didn’t have the chance to prove this point. But he will be a very good player for Manchester United.

It’s been really unfortunate and disappointing for him [injuries] but also for us when you have such a class player in the middle and you can’t play him. He has had injuries as we all know.

Speaking of strikers…

Will we see Rasmus Hojlund back today?

Erik ten Hag was dropping a few hints earlier this week that the Dane could make his injury return later this afternoon…

We had a good week. The players you mention [Hojlund, Maguire and Wan-Bissaka] returned on the pitch, partly at the start of the week and they had a session [on Friday] and are all training. We have to see how they recover from this, but it looks good. I think [they will be fit to play].

Has Darwin Nunez clicked when Liverpool needed him most?

In my view, yes. Nunez has been in excellent form in the absence of Mohamed Salah.

Before the turn of the new year, he had struggled to find the back of the net but it was clear he possessed bags of raw talent.

And it seems he’s managed to find his form, scoring six goals in his last six games for the Reds and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.

Mail Sport’s James Sharpe has taken a deep dive into the numbers that show that Nunez is on fire.

A heavyweight champion is in the house today!

Tyson Fury is set to fight Oleksandr Usyk in May, but it appears the Gypsy King has taken some time out of his training schedule to watch this huge clash between two heavyweights of English football.

Today’s programme cover

Several iconic photos from past and present United stars are printed on the front of today’s matchday programme.

On this day in 2016…

Here’s a throwback that I’m sure many Liverpool fans will want to watch again!

Philippe Coutinho produced this stunning chip to help United bounce back and seal a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in 2016.

Brazil deliver Man United hammer blow

Brazil announced their squad for their upcoming friendlies against England and Spain on Friday night but Casemiro was not named in the squad.

Head coach Dorival Junior revealed that the Man United midfielder will sit out the upcoming international break due to an injury.

Casemiro has played 90 minutes in Man United’s last three matches and it is now doubtful whether he’ll feature today against Liverpool.

Look who’s back!

Man United are in the house and Mason Mount has arrived with the squad following his long injury lay off!

Mount has not played since November after suffering a soft tissue injury, with Erik ten hag having hinted this week that he and Harry Maguire could return to action today.

The midfielder looked in good spirits as he and the rest of the team met fans outside of Old Trafford just moments ago.

Fernando Torres is up for the cup!

The former Liverpool striker showed his support for his old club, with a video emerging online of the Spaniard sparring in the gym while wearing a Trent Alexander-Arnold jersey!
