Manchester United target Matheus Cunha has bit back at a group of Wolves supporters over a deleted post on Instagram declaring he would ‘follow his dream’.
Mail Sport reported earlier this week that United are keen on the forward, whose contract runs until June 2029 and includes a release clause worth £62.5million.
Cunha has been in red-hot form this season, scoring 15 goals in 29 games across all competitions, and he is all but certain to move on from Molineux this summer.
As speculation around his future builds, the 25-year-old took to social media to share a cryptic black and white photo of himself wearing a Wolves tracksuit top.
It also bore the message, ‘Time to be happy. I will follow my dreams, not yours. So stay cool.’ The story was visible for just a handful of minutes before being removed.
However, some eagle-eyed supporters, including group Talking Wolves, were able to take a screenshot, leading to criticism online which seemingly irritated the player.

Taking exception, Cunha told Talking Wolves: ‘Do you know what you want? For people to not like me here, unfortunately I’m going to the field to solve the problem of your favourite club. I’m not here looking for alternatives to be someone important.
‘Fans root for their own, they don’t create misfortunes all the time.’
Talking Wolves then replying, saying: ‘Completely false. You would have seen us praising you and supporting you from day one. We’re reporting the news and what’s happening. Stop blaming your personal mistakes on us.’
In response, Cunha added: ‘I’m sorry but that’s exactly what you want. The first one to report fake news, not what was really in the news.
‘I make a video and pretend it’s irrelevant. What you don’t understand is that you are an opinion maker, if you don’t like me, that’s fine friend. Let’s do the following, in common we only have the Wolves that I love so much.’
The spat was enough for Instagram users to label Cunha a ‘clown’ who should be dropped, with one account saying: ‘Get him out the football club, I’m sick of him.’
Regardless of the off-field friction, Wolves are unlikely to agree to selling the forward for anything less than his release clause. Newcastle, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham are also believed to be in the race for his signature.
United, however, would have to sell at least one senior player to meet his price tag.

Marcus Rashford, currently excelling on loan at Aston Villa, is one potential candidate while fellow loanees Antony and Jadon Sancho may also be considered.
Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho are not exempt from the chopping block either but United would only sell up if the right bid came in.
Cunha is not the only forward on United’s radar. Ipswich striker Liam Delap is another target and could be available for as little as £30m if his current club are relegated.
