Man United’s social media admin rubs salt in Arsenal and Mikel Arteta’s wounds with provocative posts on X after penalty shootout victory

Manchester United added insult to injury for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta after knocking the Gunners out of the FA Cup with a barbed post on social media.

The club first issued a one-word response to their shootout win, simply posting on X: ‘Justice.’

This appeared to be in reaction to Kai Havertz‘s crucial shootout miss, who was at the centre of controversy throughout the game.

After going down softly to win a penalty in the second half, cameras seemed to catch Harry Maguire brandish Havertz a ‘cheat’ before a mass brawl erupted between the two sets of players.

Martin Odegaard stepped up to the spot with the intention of slotting home and putting the Gunners in front.

However, Altay Bayindir produced a stunning save to keep the game on level terms, with extra time and penalties needed to find a winner.

Now public enemy number one with the United faithful, Havertz’s woes were compounded as his tame spot-kick was saved in the shootout, with his miss spelling the premature end of Arsenal’s FA Cup campaign.

Piling on the German’s misery, Man United’s X admin chose to claim that ‘justice’ had been served for Havertz following his antics earlier in the game.

United then went on to poke fun at Gunners boss Arteta after full-time, seemingly mocking the bizarre comments the Spaniard made about the Carabao Cup ball following their defeat to Newcastle in midweek.

‘It’s just different,’ Arteta said on Tuesday. ‘It’s very different to the Premier League ball and you have to adapt to that.

‘It flies different… when you touch it, the grip is very different as well so you have to adapt to that.’

Man United’s official accounts opted to not so subtly take a jibe at Arteta’s penchant for ball physics following their triumph at the Emirates, posting on X: ‘This ball flies a lot.’

Arsenal promptly found an equaliser through a deflected Gabriel strike, with United fans fearing that the game could soon run away from them.

But after gritting through the remainder of the second half and extra time, Ruben Amorim’s side managed to get the edge on penalties, with Joshua Zirkzee putting United’s fifth and final spot-kick beyond David Raya to book their place in the FA Cup fourth round.
