Manchester United have struck two deals with Bayern Munich, according to David Ornstein.

The Red Devils are closing in on completing their summer business. While they still want to sign a midfielder and potentially a new striker, they are now on the verge of finally sorting out their defence.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Man Utd have, at last, reached an agreement with Bayern Munich for the transfer of Matthijs de Ligt. The Manchester giants are set to pay €45 million plus a potential €5m in add-ons to match the Bundesliga side’s €50m valuation.

Already weeks ago, De Ligt agreed to a five-year contract but a club-to-club deal was thought to hinge on potential outgoings. However, according to Ornstein, this does not appear to be the case, with Man Utd not having to sell anyone to fund the deal – at least not right now.

De Ligt isn’t the only Bayern star heading to Old Trafford.

Mazraoui deal also agreed

Ornstein has also confirmed that Man Utd have struck a deal with Bayern for Noussair Mazraoui in what is a separate transaction. This deal does, however, hinge on a sale, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka in advanced talks with West Ham.

Man Utd will pay €15m plus €5m in add-ons for the full-back, who is primarily right-sided but can also feature on the left. Like De Ligt, Mazraoui has long since agreed terms with the Red Devils.

For Bayern, these two deals now mean that they can proceed with the signing of German international Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen. The latter had recently demanded a guarantee from the Bavarians that they would match the champions’ demands, but this was not forthcoming.

Despite a deadline having now passed, German media still expects Bayern to complete the signing of Tah now that funds have been freed up via the sale of De Ligt.
