Jonathan David, widely expected to be one of the most coveted stars in the transfer market this summer, has revealed where his ‘preferred’ destination would be.
David has been in fine form this season, scoring 14 times in Ligue 1 and also netting seven goals in the Champions League and the 25-year-old is likely to leave Lille when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Barcelona have all registered an interest in signing David on a free transfer but the Canadian international has so far remained tight-lipped over his future.
However, when asked by Gary Neville on the ‘It’s Called Soccer’ podcast about which league he felt he was most suited to, David revealed his ambition would be to play in Spain in the future.
‘I think I can adapt to every league. Every league has its differences,” David said. “The Premier League is a lot faster and more physical than all of the other leagues. But for me, I grew up watching a lot of LaLiga and for me, that would be my preferred league.
‘That is the league that I enjoyed watching the most so one day I would like to play there Will that happen? I don’t know. But we’ll see where the future takes us.’
David likely to turn to Premier League after Barca disappointment
With many teams such as Man Utd and Chelsea desperate to sign a striker this summer, while also reserving their limited spending power in the transfer market, David’s availability on a free has intrigued virtually every top side across Europe.
Barcelona had been one of the teams who had initially viewed David as a top target due to their financial struggles, however the Catalan side are now understood to have cooled their interest in the Lille star.
David will likely find himself disappointed if Barca have indeed dropped out of the running to sign him after telling The Athletic last year: “(Barcelona) was always the team I grew up supporting. When you grow up supporting a team, it’s your dream to play for them.”
Consequently, David may find his best chance of top level football to be in the Premier League rather than Spain, with the likes of Newcastle, West Ham and Nottingham Forest also all monitoring the situation.
