Manchester United considered the possibility of signing Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer before turning their attention to Matheus Cunha.

The Red Devils are planning to bolster their attacking midfield department and they have looked at multiple options ahead of the summer.

As per Miguel Delaney, the club considered Palmer as one of the top names, but believed it would be impossible to lure him from the Blues.

United have since turned their focus to Cunha, who is prepared to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers during the next transfer window.

Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest have also been linked with the Brazilian, but Cunha has given the green light to join United.

The 25-year-old has a release clause worth £62.5m in his contract and the Red Devils are aiming to secure a deal before the end of June.

The club may need a big-money exit to activate the clause. Otherwise, they could negotiate a long-term payment plan with Wolves.
