Man Utd crackdown confirmed: Amorim lost his s***!

Manchester United are once again trying to crack down on ‘leaks and moles’ in a bid to prevent sensitive information from filtering through to the media.

The Red Devils have been in turmoil all season after enduring their worst-ever start to a Premier League campaign. Erik ten Hag lost his job in October and was replaced by Ruben Amorim in November but with little positive effect to speak of so far.

The club’s on-field struggles have occurred amid a backdrop of draconian cost-cutting measures that have seen scores of employees axed by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS in a bid to avoid falling foul of Profit and Sustainability rules after years of losing money.

The pressure on Man Utd has only been increased by the fact that everything happening at the club is excessively scrutinised by the media. Not a day goes by without a new piece of internal information leaking to the press and making headlines.

This was already the case during Ten Hag’s time at the club and Man Utd eventually proceeded to briefly ban certain reporters from the manager’s press conferences, but the problem continued unabated.

Amorim to root out moles

Things have seemingly only become worse since Ruben Amorim took charge of Man Utd. Recently, news leaked that the 40-year-old had smashed a TV in the dressing room after being left frustrated with a performance and this reporting was ostensibly corroborated by scratches visible on his hands.

The fact that internal matters such as things that happen in the dressing room as well as injuries and other team news immediately make their way to the media has left INEOS bosses furious as it reflects badly on them and the club at large.

Amorim, too, is unhappy with this state of affairs and the Daily Mail quotes one club source as saying that “Ruben Amorim lost his sh*t so I have to lie low for a bit.”

Man Utd are trying to crack down hard on ‘leaks and moles’ at Carrington and Old Trafford and Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently urged employees and those associated with the club to stop disclosing potentially ‘damaging’ information.

Whether this new offensive will bear fruit remains to be seen, but Man Utd’s crusade against leaks has been ongoing for some time and success has been minimal so far.
