After a quiet January transfer window, Manchester United have already made big plans for the summer, with three Premier League stars targeted to strengthen the squad.
With no permanent manager in place, United made the decision not to dip into the market in January, despite leaving the squad precariously balanced going into the final weeks of the season.
But by keeping their power dry, it should allow greater summer investment, with the club’s three major targets already decided.
Who do Man Utd want to sign in the summer?
- Elliot Anderson – Nottingham Forest
- Lewis Hall – Newcastle United
- Alex Scott – Bournemouth
After success in the summer of 2025 concentrating their efforts on Premier League-proven players Bryan Mbeuno and Matheus Cunha, Man Utd are ready to redouble their efforts on that front. Elliot Anderson, Lewis Hall and Alex Scott are the three players top of their transfer shortlist, according to Fichajes.
It is claimed that funds worth €200 million have been put aside to help secure the arrival of these three players.
Man Utd’s three priorities
Finding additional central midfielders is arguably the greatest challenge for United. Casemiro has already confirmed that he will leave at the end of the season, and it is an area of the squad that already looks particularly thin.
One blockbuster arrival is forecast, with Anderson emerging as the top target ahead of Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, who are the other big-money players they have been linked with.
Scott, meanwhile, is a signing who could add both strength and depth to the squad having impressed with Bournemouth this season after an injury-hit spell with the club.
United also want to strengthen the left flank of their defence, which has been a constant source of trouble. Patrick Dorgu has looked far more comfortable in a more advanced role, and as such Newcastle’s Hall has been earmarked to be signed.
A route back to the top
Man Utd focused on their attack during the summer of 2025 but are poised to restructure much of the rest of the team at the end of the season, with their €200m investment a clear sign that owners Ineos are determined to lift the club back towards a position where it can challenge for the Premier League title.
