Man Utd defender out of international duty with injury

Martinez returns to Manchester due to injury

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez will return early from international duty due to a knock sustained last weekend, as per Gaston Edul.

The Argentina international suffered the setback against Leicester City on Sunday and he needed a couple of medical checks on the field.

Martinez was able to complete the full 90 minutes, but he has now been ruled out of the World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Peru.

The centre-back travelled to Argentina earlier on Monday, but he is now expected to return to Manchester to make a quick recovery.

His return could be a blessing in disguise too, considering he can start working under new boss Ruben Amorim earlier than predicted.

Amorim will take charge of training with some players this week after his visa is approved. Martinez could be involved in those sessions.

United return to Premier League action against Ipswich Town on November 24. They are expected to play in a new 3-4-3 formation under Amorim.
