Manchester United have discussed personal terms with Leicester midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, according to a report.

The Nigeria star is set to bring his lengthy spell at the King Power Stadium to an end this summer after a second relegation in two years. Ndidi decided to stay on board when Leicester dropped down to the Championship in 2023, but he is now seeking a new challenge.

Ndidi joined the Foxes in January 2017 and has since established himself as a very reliable Premier League midfielder. This, in conjunction with his availability and experience, makes him a hugely attractive player in the market.

What’s more, Ndidi can be had at a cut-price thanks to a relegation release clause that reportedly stands at just €10 million, making him one of the bargains of the summer.

Journalist Ben Jacobs previously revealed that Man Utd have held internal discussions about a potential move for Ndidi, and he has now provided some more information on the situation.

Man Utd spoke to Ndidi

According to Jacobs, Man Utd not only spoke about Ndidi internally, but they even approached the player and his representatives to discuss personal terms and a possible contract.

He also reports that Bayer Leverkusen have become the latest club to enquire about the Leicester star, joining the likes of Real Betis and Juventus in formally expressing an interest.

As for Man Utd, despite their talks with the 28-year-old, this potential deal is not expected to progress anytime soon. After sealing the signing of Bryan Mbeumo, Man Utd are now prioritising the arrival of a new centre-forward.

Jacobs states that bringing in a midfielder, even someone as cheap as Ndidi, would likely require an outgoing in that department first. A move to Man Utd is therefore not imminent at present, but Super Eagles midfielder remains a name to watch in this window.
