Man Utd enter race for Serie A star who ‘DREAMS’ of joining Chelsea

Manchester United have joined Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Lecce full-back Patrick Dorgu.

The Denmark defender, who scored on his international debut against Switzerland on Thursday, is viewed as one of the best left-back prospects in world football and a number of top European clubs are currently monitoring his progress.

Chelsea and Tottenham were both interested in signing the 19-year-old during the summer transfer window, but were put off by Lecce’s €35 million asking price, according to Fabrizio Romano.

In addition, Dorgu is also admired by Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Man Utd, as per HITC, while Arsenal were tentatively linked in July.

After joining Lecce from Nordsjaelland for just €200k last summer, Denmark’s latest star made 32 appearances in all competitions during his debut campaign, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

Dorgu’s form in Serie A has attracted significant transfer interest and Lecce may be forced to sell the teenager in 2025.

Man Utd’s interest in the 19-year-old comes amid their pursuit of a new left-back due to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia’s injury problems.

Fulham’s Antonee Robinson has emerged as a key target in recent days, while Rayan Ait-Nouri and Milos Kerkez have previously been of interest.

Patrick Dorgu wants Chelsea move

Although Man Utd are interested in signing Dorgu, the Lecce left-back has previously admitted that he wants to join Chelsea.

He told Flashscore in March: “I have been a Chelsea fan for many years, so of course it is clear that [joining them] is a dream.

“That’s not to say I can’t switch to other teams in the Premier League, but even if things aren’t going so well for them right now, they are my team.”

Enzo Maresca’s side are actively attempting to offload Ben Chilwell, which could free up space for Dorgu in 2025.

However, the Blues currently have Marc Cucurella and Renato Veiga as left-back options, meaning it is unlikely to be deemed a priority position next year.
