Man Utd identify perfect Casemiro replacement as €23m truth bomb drops

Manchester United are keenly following the development of Aleksandar Stankovic at Club Brugge, but Serie A giants Inter will hold the key to any deal for the wonderkid.

The 20-year-old has been one of the standout youngsters in European football this season. Stankovic, the son of Inter legend Dejan, has been starring for Club Brugge following a €9.5 million move from his boyhood club in the summer.

However, Inter were well aware of the Serbia international’s potential when he left. As a result, they made sure to include mechanisms in his deal that allow them to bring him back.

According to Matteo Moretto, Inter can re-sign the midfielder in the summer for €23m. In 2027, that fee would rise to €25m. “Inter are continuing to follow Stankovic’s development, and they’re staying very calm,” the journalist said on Fabrizio Romano’s Italian YouTube channel.

“Why? Because they have the option to bring him back home either in summer 2026 by paying €23m, or in July 2027 by paying €25m. So basically, in the end, it’s all in Inter’s hands.”

Man Utd want Stankovic

Moretto adds that Man Utd and Tottenham have been closely scouting Stankovic in recent months, while he was also previously linked with a potential move to Arsenal. “Many English clubs have gone to watch him and scout him live – Tottenham, Man Utd, lots of teams,” he stated.

Despite primarily playing as a holding midfielder, the 20-year-old has shown that there are many facets to his game. He has scored a very impressive seven goals this term and produced a Man of the Match performance against Marseille midweek, notching a goal and two assists.

Man Utd are keenly following the youngster due to the impending departure of Casemiro, who has announced that his expiring contract at Old Trafford will not be extended this summer.

Stankovic currently has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €18.6m, so he would likely be considerably cheaper than some of Man Utd’s other midfield targets. However, as Moretto points out, Inter will have the final say on his future.
