The 18-year-old has emerged as one of the brightest prospects in European football over the past 12 months and his progress is being closely monitored by a number of top clubs.

Chelsea have been linked with a move for the Stade Rennais teenager on several occasions so far this season, while Man Utd are also eager to sign him amid their continued pursuit of young talents.

The Red Devils already have the highly-rated Chido Obi in their ranks, however they have earmarked Kader Meite as a possible new signing in 2026 as they look to bolster the attacking options available at Old Trafford.

The France U21 international has scored three goals and provided two assists in 17 first-team appearances for Rennes so far this season, averaging a goal contribution every 113 minutes, although Man Utd will face significant competition for his signature as Al-Hilal have now joined the race to sign him.

That is according to French publication L’Equipe, who claim that Al-Hilal hope to finalise a deal before the end of the January transfer window.

The Saudi Pro League’s transfer strategy has shifted towards signing a younger demographic of players over the past few windows and Kader Meite has been sounded out as their latest target amid his eye-catching form for Rennes.

Mohamed Kader Meite to Al-Hilal?

L’Equipe state that Kader Meite has received a “concrete offer” from Al-Hilal, who currently have ex-Liverpool star Darwin Nunez as their first choice centre forward.

It’s reported that an unnamed “major” club in the Premier League is also interested in signing Kader Meite before Transfer Deadline Day on 2 February, although Rennes are likely to oppose a mid-season sale.

The 18-year-old’s current deal at Rennes isn’t due to expire until 2028, but the Ligue 1 club have already expressed their desire to finalise fresh terms with the striker in a bid to increase his potential transfer fee.
