Manchester United are working on trying to sell Andre Onana before the closure of the Saudi Arabian transfer window.
United have attempted all summer to offload Onana after two miserable seasons at Old Trafford.
However, United failed to find a buyer in Europe before the end of the main summer transfer window on Monday.
Despite this, United still brought in a new number one on Deadline Day in Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp.
United try to sell Onana to Saudi Arabia
Although the main European window has closed, there are still places such as Turkey and Saudi Arabia that are open for a while longer.
The Saudi Pro League transfer window closes on September 23 and FootballInsider reports that Man Utd are working to find a buyer in that market before that date.
The report says that United believe there is a possibility they could complete a sale this month.
Man Utd bought Onana for a fee of around €55 million from Inter in 2023.
Big things were expected of the Cameroonian, who had enjoyed an outstanding Champions League season with the Nerazzurri in 2022-23, playing a key role in their run to the final.
He kept more clean sheets than anyone in the tournament, including five in the knockout rounds, as Inter narrowly and unluckily lost 1-0 to Man City in the showpiece in June. He was also heralded as the best goalkeeper in the world with the ball at his feet.
However, Onana endured an error-prone season in 2023-24, with United having their worst defensive record and most goals conceded in decades.
He made a string of mistakes, in particular in the Champions League group stage elimination in games against Galatasaray, Copenhagen and Bayern Munich.
Last season Onana improved a touch earlier in the campaign but he reverted to his first season’s form in 2025 as United went trophyless and finished in 15th.
And this campaign he was dropped for Altay Bayindir for the first three Premier League games of the season in a clear sign his future at United is up. Bayindir has also struggled, leading to the signing of Lammens.
Onana did play in the EFL Cup game against Grimsby but disappointed in a shock exit on penalties.
