The 22-year-old has enjoyed a fantastic start to the new Premier League season and he has now been added to Man Utd’s shortlist of central midfield transfer targets.

That is according to Graeme Bailey, who claims that Scott has emerged onto INEOS’ radar amid Man Utd’s pursuit of at least one new midfielder in 2026.

The Red Devils are eager to land a Premier League proven midfielder next year and Scott has now joined Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton as possible new signings for Ruben Amorim.

Man Utd were reportedly impressed by Scott’s development during his time at Championship side Bristol City and they have now stepped up their interest in his signature as rumours over a 2026 exit begin to intensify.

Kobbie Mainoo has been heavily linked with an Old Trafford departure after falling out of favour under Amorim and Man Utd are also keen to land a long-term replacement for Casemiro, who continues to be touted as a key target for the Saudi Pro League.

Scott, who has racked up 62 first-team appearances for Bournemouth, is seen as a possible solution.

Man Utd chase Alex Scott deal

Man Utd’s interest in Scott comes following his first ever call-up for the senior England national team.

The Bournemouth star played a key role during England’s triumph at the U21 European Championship and he has now made the step up to the senior squad after an excellent start to the new campaign.

Following his decision to select Scott for fixtures versus Serbia and Albania, England boss Thomas Tuchel said: “He had an excellent Euros. He won the title, Lee was full of praise.

“He did an excellent job in midfield together with Elliot Anderson, who is now a regular starter for us – he was very impressive.

“Then he took another step and becomes a very regular starter for AFC Bournemouth and they are in the top third of the league.

“They are over-performing constantly and he is a starter for them. He puts the intensity in and he gets his minutes.

“So, we thought it was maybe a perfect time to reward him and get to know him and to see what he can bring to our team.”
