Marcus Rashford has seen another one of his potential exit routes closed off after Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce announced they would not be pursuing a deal for the unwanted Manchester United star.
Rashford has not played for United since December 12th and Ruben Amorim this week reaffirmed his decision to exile the forward by insisting he would select goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital before a player who ‘does not give the maximum’.

United have desperately been trying to find a new club for Rashford but, despite tentative interest from the likes of Barcelona, Dortmund and West Ham, no deal has been forthcoming so far.
With the January transfer window set to close on Monday, Rashford’s options appear to be running thin and Fenerbahce vice president Acun Ilicali revealed that the Turkish giants are not interested in signing the player this month.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Ilicali said: “Yesterday it was in the news that we are interested. First of all, he is a fantastic player. But in your team, when you have some plans, it is not logical to have two players in the same position that are too similar.
“These kinds of players need to play, play, play – and, if he comes, one of the other players would not be able to play. When it came in front of us, unfortunately we said no – so there is nothing about this transfer.
“Of course, there were some rumours, but I can say very comfortably that we are not interested. But he’s a good player.”

Rashford’s future coming down to the wire in January transfer window
Rashford remains one of United’s top earners and the club are keen to get his wages off the books, however they have been unable to find a deal that meets their demands so far.

Barcelona are understood to be Rashford’s first choice but the La Liga giants cannot afford to finance a deal currently despite the 27-year-old being willing to lower his wage demands to seal a transfer.
A deal could be struck in the final days of the transfer window as there appears to be no way back for Rashford under Amorim barring a dramatic turnaround.
United are also aware that getting Rashford’s salary off the books, particularly in a permanent deal, would be a huge step in allowing them to strengthen before the end of the month, with a €40 million deal for Patrick Dorgu still being discussed with Lecce.
