Man Utd make move to sign PSG defender

Manchester United have made an approach to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Nuno Mendes ahead of the January transfer window.

The Portuguese has been in a contract stand-off with Les Parisiens and he will enter the final 18 months of his deal at the turn of the year.

The lack of progress in negotiations has caught the eye of United and RMC Sport claim that they have made an offer for his services.

United have had a big problem on the left side of the defence this term.

Diogo Dalot has been the regular from the role, but he has struggled with his positioning from the left wing-back position in recent weeks.

Tyrell Malacia has made a few starts under manager Ruben Amorim, but he was recently dropped from the matchday squad to face Wolves.

It is quite clear that United need an upgrade and they could bring Mendes to their ranks when the transfer window reopens this winter.

Luke Shaw is the other option in the United set-up, but the Englishman’s career is doubtful due to his persistent injury problems.
