Manchester United are unlikely to make a renewed approach for Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo during the winter transfer window.
The Red Devils were keen on landing the Ghanaian last summer and manager Ruben Amorim had a personal meeting with the versatile winger.
However, a deal did not materialise in the end. Bournemouth‘s reported asking price of £75 million put them off from making a serious move.
The club ended up signing Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo instead, but there has been speculation that they could return for Semenyo this winter.
Semenyo, who has made nine goal contributions this campaign, has a release clause worth £65 million for the winter transfer window.
United hold a long-term interest, but they are unlikely to afford the package, given they are walking a tight rope in terms of finances.
The Red Devils are just £40 million away from breaching the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and are unlikely to afford the winger.
The Cherries won’t provide any discount on their prized asset in January and any interested club may have to pay the entire fee to sign him.
