Manchester United and Manchester City could battle it out to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson at the end of the campaign, according to Daily Mail.
Anderson has been earmarked as United’s prime transfer target for the number six position and they are holding talks within the hierarchy ahead of an approach next summer.
However, they are not alone in the pursuit. Pep Guardiola‘s side are keeping tabs on the Englishman and see him as a possible successor to Rodri, who has had plenty of injuries of late.
Rodri has been far from his best since returning from a serious knee injury and there are suggestions that the Spaniard could depart next summer.
Anderson has been phenomenal for Forest in the centre of the park. He has made eight recoveries and won seven duels per league appearance.
He has also chipped in with goals and assists, and has the credentials to become a mainstay in the number six role for either United or City.
