Manchester United made an offer for Atalanta midfielder Ederson in 2024, who is bound to be on the move in 2026, according to a report.

The Brazil international has become a star player for Atalanta in recent seasons, which has seen him increasingly attract the attention of European giants.

Man Utd are known to be long-standing admirers of Ederson, and journalist Alfredo Pedulla has now confirmed that the Red Devils made a summer approach for the 26-year-old in 2024.

No transfer, however, materialised because the Bergamo outfit demanded a sizeable €60 million for their star midfielder. Fortunately for Man Utd, Atalanta will not be in such a comfortable position heading into 2026.

Ederson is out of contract in 2027, and his situation has become quite complicated for the Serie A outfit. That is because his agent, Andre Cury, recently went on the record to dismiss suggestions that the player could sign an extension.

Ederson transfer inevitable

Cury openly talked up a transfer in 2026 and even attempted to put pressure on Atalanta by saying that they would have to accept a cut-price fee to avoid losing him for nothing in 2027.

Naturally, this hasn’t gone down well in Bergamo. Man Utd continue to be linked with a move for the Brazilian, but Pedulla reports that they are far from the only side keen to pounce on this potential market opportunity.

The journalist claims that the likes of Atletico Madrid and Juventus have also made enquiries about Ederson recently, while there have also been reports that Man City have taken a liking to him.

Atalanta don’t want to lose the midfielder in the January window, but it is almost inevitable that Ederson will leave the club in the summer. His agent is determined to ensure that.
