Man Utd ‘offered’ €50m star amid Mainoo exit worry

Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz amid his struggles in Serie A.

The Brazil international joined Thiago Motta’s side from Aston Villa for €51.5 million in July, but he has failed to hit the ground running in Italy, mustering just two league starts so far this campaign, partly due to injury.

Luiz has now been offered to a number of Premier League clubs, including Man Utd, as Juventus look to offload him during the January transfer window.

The Daily Mail report that Luiz has been proposed to Man Utd, Manchester City and Fulham, while Nottingham Forest have enquired over a possible loan deal for the 26-year-old.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are currently third in the Premier League table and they are interested in bolstering their midfield options with the addition of Luiz, despite Danilo’s imminent return to full fitness.

However, Man Utd have been offered the chance to sign the Brazil star in January and Ruben Amorim could green light a move amid the uncertain futures of Christian Eriksen, Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo.

Douglas Luiz to join Man Utd?

Eriksen is expected to leave Man Utd when his contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of June, while Casemiro could depart this summer amid reports of a Saudi Pro League switch.

In addition, Mainoo has been heavily linked with a departure over the past week, with Man Utd open to a sale if they receive a huge offer for the England midfielder.

Chelsea are reportedly leading the race to sign Mainoo this year and although Man Utd are reluctant to lose the 19-year-old, the Blues are considering submitting a bid amid their desire to offload Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Cesare Casadei and Carney Chukwuemeka.

As a result, Man Utd could take advantage of Luiz’s situation at Juventus to land a new central midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window.
