Manchester United have reportedly added Ibrahim Sangare to their transfer wishlist for the upcoming summer window amid their pursuit of a new central midfielder.
The Red Devils are actively searching for a suitable replacement for Casemiro, who will depart Old Trafford following the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, and they have earmarked Sangare as their latest target for the role.
It has been reported that Elliot Anderson, Man Utd’s preferred midfield signing, is expected to join Manchester City on a permanent deal this summer, and Michael Carrick’s side have therefore been forced to pursue alternative targets.
Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba, Bruno Guimaraes and Joao Gomes have all been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks, while the 13-time Premier League champions are now ready to pursue a summer deal for Sangare.
That is according to a report from CaughtOffside, who claim that Man Utd scouts have been left “impressed” by Sangare’s form this season and view him as a cost-effective potential replacement for Casemiro.
Aston Villa, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and West Ham United are also interested in signing Sangare this summer, with Nottingham Forest expected to demand a fee of roughly €50 million to sanction a sale ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Sangare has made 32 appearances for Forest so far this campaign, scoring two goals and providing three assists, and his current contract at the City Ground is due to expire in 2028.
Analysis: Who will Man Utd sign this summer?
Despite Man Utd’s reported interest in Sangare, the club are likely to prioritise a move for his club team-mate Anderson this summer, although the England star appears destined to complete a transfer to Man City.
If Anderson opts to join Pep Guardiola’s side instead, Man Utd have been tipped to initiate discussions with Crystal Palace over a blockbuster move for the aforementioned Wharton.
The 22-year-old has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League over the past 12 months and he is viewed as a top target by the Man Utd hierarchy.
The Red Devils are also expected to sign a new forward this summer, while they have been tipped to bolster their defensive ranks too.
