The Red Devils launched an opening offer for the Slovenia international on Tuesday and they have now struck a full agreement to bring the 22-year-old to Old Trafford, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

Man Utd will pay an initial fee of €76.5 million for Sesko, plus an additional €8.5m in potential add-on clauses. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that these add-on clauses are “very easy to reach,” meaning the Red Devils are expected to pay an overall package of €85m for Sesko.

The Slovenia forward has been given permission to travel to Manchester to undergo his medical and he is expected to be unveiled as their latest summer signing shortly.

Newcastle United were also heavily interested in signing Sesko this summer, after missing out on numerous targets, but the 22-year-old favoured a move to Man Utd and Eddie Howe’s side are now likely to pursue an alternative target, such as Chelsea star Nicolas Jackson.

Sesko scored 21 goals and provided six assists in 45 appearances across all competitions last season, and he was tipped to join Arsenal before they opted to pursue a move for Viktor Gyokeres instead.

Sesko will become Man Utd’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window, following the purchases of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon, and he is expected to usurp Rasmus Hojlund as the club’s first-choice centre forward.

He will reportedly sign a five-year contract at the club, and it’s highly likely that he will be officially announced as a Man Utd player before the start of the new Premier League campaign.

Sesko could therefore make his competitive debut for the club during their opening fixture against Arsenal on 17 August.
