Man Utd reunion at AC Milan: Ibrahimovic teases Rashford signing

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has claimed that ‘everyone wants to play for Milan‘ when quizzed about his club’s links with former Manchester United teammate Marcus Rashford.

AC Milan are the club most actively pursuing the wantaway Man Utd winger, having made contact with his camp and the club last week. Rashford’s brother and agent Dwaine Maynard has already had a formal meeting with the Rossoneri, though no concrete bid has as yet been made.

The 27-year-old has more suitors from around Europe, with Juventus and Borussia Dortmund also among the clubs interested, while Barcelona enquired about him on Friday.

It is not entirely set in stone yet that Rashford will leave Man Utd this month, but given the increasing number of approaches Man Utd are receiving, paired with the club’s openness to discuss an initial loan exit, it does look a likely scenario.

Ibrahimovic on Rashford

On Friday, new AC Milan head coach Sergio Conceicao was asked about Rashford and mostly acted coy. “Rashford is a good player like many others, some are on the market, others are not, let’s see what happens,” he simply said.

Now, manager and advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic has chimed in on the links with his former Man Utd teammate. In typical Zlatan fashion, he gave a more tantalising and revealing response.

“I played with him when he was young, now he’s more of a man and a great player,” he said shortly before Milan’s Serie A clash with Cagliari. “From Manchester United, though. Milan is a great club, everyone wants to play for Milan. We haven’t spoken to him yet, let’s see if we do.”

Rashford is said to be open to a transfer to Milan, though he apparently dreams of a move to Spain. It remains to be seen if Milan can strike a deal with Man Utd, who will likely have to shoulder a sizeable chunk of the 27-year-old’s salary.
