Manchester United have slashed their asking price for Marcus Rashford in the hopes of finding a club willing to sign him after deciding to put their mercurial talisman up for sale.

Rashford is one of United’s top earners, having renewed his contract last year until 2028 with a reported salary of more than €350,000-per-week.

The 27-year-old has been a mainstay in United’s first team since coming through the academy but his inconsistent displays and rumoured off-the-pitch habits have reportedly convinced the club to try and cash in on the forward.

Rashford has scored seven times in 22 games this season, including three goals in his last two Premier League starts, but the England international is considered expendable due to United’s need to meet PSR limitations.

United had previously put a price tag of more than €100 million on Rashford after previous interest from Paris Saint-Germain but the Daily Mail report that they would now consider offers of £40m (€48m) after accepting his value has dropped.

In spite of the lowered asking price, United are not anticipating offers in January for Rashford but there is hope the likes of PSG, Juventus and Bayern Munich could offer routes for an exit down the line.

United willing to sell most of their squad

Rashford has come under fire for his poor displays coupled with his alleged issues off the pitch, with some reported concerns around the club over his professionalism and tendency to party.

New head coach Ruben Amorim is keen to revitalise his team, with the majority of United’s squad reportedly up for sale for the right price.

United’s outlay in the summer means they are still in the need to sell more players if they wish to strengthen and make additions next year.

With Rashford failing to live up to his huge wages and his potential sale representing pure profit on the books, United have opted to try and cash in on him instead of another academy player such as Kobbie Mainoo or Alejandro Garnacho.
