Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez will be sidelined for the upcoming Premier League clash against Aston Villa at Old Trafford, according to The Daily Mail.
The Argentine has been out for the last three matches with a calf injury. Interim manager Michael Carrick recently said that he could be fit in a matter of days, but that does not appear the case.
The World Cup winner is still nursing a calf issue and won’t be fit to face the Villans. He could also miss the subsequent trip to Bournemouth and may only return to action in a month’s time.
United have a huge break of almost 23 days between the Bournemouth fixture and the Leeds United game in mid-April. The big gap provides an ideal opportunity for Martinez to recover fully.
The Red Devils are currently third in the league table with 51 points and need to return to winning ways against Villa this weekend to boost their Champions League pursuit.
