A number of Manchester United players have reportedly “begged” Bruno Fernandes to reject interest from Saudi Arabia in order to remain at the club this summer.
The Portugal international has been heavily linked with an Old Trafford exit in recent weeks and he recently offered to leave the club following their 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.
“I have always been honest. I’ve always said I will be here until the club says to me that it’s time to go,” Fernandes told reporters after the match.
“I’m eager to do more, to be able to bring the club the great days. In the day that the club thinks that I’m too much or it’s time to part ways, football is like this, you never know it. But I’ve always said it and I keep my word in the same way.
“If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in or whatever, it’s what it is, and football sometimes is like this.”
Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal are ready to submit a €120 million bid for Fernandes, as per The Daily Mail, while they are willing to offer the 30-year-old an annual salary of €77m.
However, several Man Utd players have begged Fernandes to stay at Old Trafford as they recognise his immense importance to the club, according to The Sun.
In fact, many reportedly believe “the dressing room would fall apart” if Fernandes departs this summer.
Ruben Amorim on Bruno Fernandes
Speaking to TNT Sports ahead of Man Utd’s final Premier League match of the season versus Aston Villa, Amorim admitted: “It’s important for Bruno to see that we are changing a lot of things in our club.
“The behaviour, the everyday organisation, the pace of training. All these things, if he sees that we are doing that across all levels, he will want to stay at this club. He loves this club.
“That is the most important thing – not the Champions League. He wants to win with this club and he trains and behaves at a high level.
“Everybody here needs to do that – he will be here for that.”
