The Brazilian is enjoying the best season of his career at present. Raphinha has been unbelievable for Barcelona this term and is one of the firm favourites for this year’s Ballon d’Or.

The 28-year-old has notched a ridiculous 30 goals and 24 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions this season. Raphinha is thriving under Hansi Flick, who personally intervened to dispel any doubts the player had about his future in Catalunya.

Raphinha has openly admitted that he considered leaving the club last summer after failing to live up to expectations in previous seasons. The constant speculation surrounding his future planted doubts in his head over whether he was good enough for the Blaugrana.

Despite his unbelievable season, the speculation still persists, albeit for much more positive reasons. His form has attracted the attention of high-profile clubs from all around Europe, with Man Utd in particular often linked.

Raphinha to have affordable release clause

Fabrizio Romano recently dismissed suggestions that Man Utd could look to launch a transfer offensive for the Brazil international this summer, with Raphinha currently loving life in Spain.

In fact, Barcelona have initiated talks to extend the winger’s deal beyond 2027. Intriguingly, however, this isn’t necessarily bad news for his suitors. According to Sport, Raphinha’s new deal is slated to contain a relatively affordable release clause.

The Catalan outlet claims that Raphinha will be fitted with an €80 million exit clause, which is a far cry from the €1 billion price tags that have been slapped on their other key players.

The report states that ‘all parties’ are in agreement that it is ‘positive that the clause is not too high,’ so as to allow for an amicable parting of ways in the future, which would provide Barcelona with a sizeable but not unrealistic transfer fee.
