Man Utd target BOMBSHELL move for ‘very important’ Liverpool star

Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a shock summer move for Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister amid their pursuit of a new central midfielder.

The Red Devils are in the market for significant reinforcements in the middle of the park following confirmation that Casemiro will leave Old Trafford in July and Mac Allister has now been earmarked as their latest target.

That is according to The Mirror, who report that Man Utd officials are keeping a close eye on Mac Allister’s situation at Anfield amid rumours that he could leave Arne Slot’s side this summer.

Slot described Mac Allister as a “very important player” following Liverpool’s triumphant 2024-25 Premier League campaign, and the Argentina international remains a key star for the Reds, having started 21 of their 26 English top flight fixtures so far this term.

However, his form has undoubtedly dipped this season and this has fuelled speculation of a potential transfer during the upcoming summer window.

Alexis Mac Allister to join Man Utd?

Real Madrid are known admirers of Mac Allister, with Los Blancos keen to land a new midfielder following the departure of Luka Modric to AC Milan last summer, while Man Utd have now joined the race for the 27-year-old.

No player has moved directly between Man Utd and Liverpool since Phil Chisnall joined the latter in 1964, but Mac Allister could end that drought if the Red Devils opt to intensify their pursuit of his signature over the next few months.

The Argentina superstar, who helped his country win the Qatar World Cup, joined Liverpool from Brighton & Hove Albion for €42 million in 2023 and he has racked up a total of 132 appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals.

Mac Allister’s current contract at Liverpool is due to expire in 2028 and despite rumours of a potential summer exit, The Mirror claim that he is yet to make a decision on his future.

In addition to Mac Allister, Man Utd are also interested in fellow Premier League stars Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba and Joao Gomes amid their pursuit of a new central midfielder to replace Casemiro.
