Manchester United could focus on the purchase of homegrown talent when Sir Jim Ratcliffe takes control of the club.
Ratcliffe is currently in the process of securing a minority stake from the Glazers. As part of the agreement, he will take charge of the footballing operations including player investment.
According to The Sun, the British billionaire is surprised by the lack of homegrown players in the squad and he is expected to prioritise domestic stars over foreign signings in future.
This is likely to bring a mixed response from the fans, considering United may struggle to attract England internationals, who are currently key players at their respective teams.
United stand a chance of signing someone like Ivan Toney from Brentford, but they may struggle to pursue Bukayo Saka or Phil Foden for example from Arsenal and Manchester City.
Hence, there is no guarantee of success with the transfer policy proposed. It could have a negative effect on United’s league position going forward.
