Jadon Sancho’s Manchester United nightmare could be over by Transfer Deadline Day, but only if the Red Devils are willing to bend on one point of an agreement.

Sancho has been linked with a spectacular swap with Chelsea, but it is Juventus who are closer to signing the 24-year-old England international star.

Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag has left the former Borussia Dortmund player out of his squads at the beginning of the season, making clear that even if the fallout with Sancho from a year ago has been forgiven, he still has no place in the plans of the Dutchman.

A permanent move appears to be unlikely before the close of the transfer window. PSG had appeared to be examining the prospect but since signing Desire Doue have cooled on the Englishman, while even the rumoured Chelsea deal is a long shot.

Instead, brokering a loan with Juventus, who are working to get Barcelona-linked Federico Chiesa off their books, appears the likeliest outcome.

Nicolo Schira says that the Serie A giants are poised to complete a move – but only if United are willing to foot at least some of the bill for Sancho’s salary.

Taking to X, he says: “Expected today, a new round of talks between Juventus and Man Utd for Jadon Sancho.

“Juve are ready to sign him on loan, if Manchester United support the Bianconeri about the payment of part of his salary.”

Sancho’s salary stalling deal

Sancho’s €300,000-per-week (£250,000) wage was previously a stumbling block during the January transfer window, when the Red Devils ultimately loaned the player back to Borussia Dortmund.

Even at that point, it appeared that a permanent sale was the preferred option for both clubs, but no team was willing to pay both a sizeable transfer fee and big wages for the winger.

Despite Sancho being frozen out by Ten Hag so far this season, Man Utd are said to be open to keeping him if no buyer can be found.

Sancho is under contract until June 2026 and has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €41.6 million.
