FootballTransfers runs through the latest Manchester United transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Igor Thiago and Scott McTominay.
Igor Thiago talks
Man Utd are among the clubs interested in signing Brentford striker Igor Thiago, who has scored 17 Premier League goals so far this season.
That is according to SportsBoom, who report that Michael Carrick’s side have discussed a potential summer move for the Brazilian forward.
Arsenal and Chelsea are also reportedly interested in signing Thiago, although Man Utd could opt to match Brentford’s asking price of roughly €80 million amid Benjamin Sesko’s struggles this season.
Scott McTominay decision
Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay is edging closer to signing a contract extension at the club, despite reported interest from former club Man Utd.
Several Premier League clubs are interested in bringing him back to England this year and reports have suggested that Man Utd are currently the frontrunners for his signature as they look to lure him back to Old Trafford.
However, Italian journalist Nicolo Schira has now confirmed that McTominay is in advanced talks over a new contract with Napoli. It’s reported that negotiations are progressing nicely and he is set to sign a deal valid until 2030 with an option for a further 12 months.
Mateus Mane wanted
Man Utd want to hijack Liverpool’s proposed summer deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers wonderkid Mateus Mane, Fichajes
Liverpool are currently considered to be the firm favourites in the race for his signature, but Mane has been added to Man Utd’s transfer wishlist, with the Red Devils ready to challenge the Reds for his signature this summer.
Wolves are expected to demand a fee of least €57.5 million (£50m) to sanction a sale later this year, although they will undoubtedly be keen to retain Mane’s services if they are relegated back to the Championship.
Serie A scouting mission
Man Utd scouts were in attendance to watch Federico Dimarco and Pierre Kalulu during Inter Milan’s 3-2 win over Juventus on Saturday evening.
Both players have been linked with an Old Trafford switch in 2026 and Calciomercato have revealed that Man Utd officials were tasked with watching them in action ahead of a potential swoop this summer.
Harry Maguire new deal?
Harry Maguire’s team-mates are desperate for him to be rewarded with a new contract this summer, according to The Sun.
The England defender is currently due to become a free agent in July, however rumours have suggested that he is likely to be offered fresh terms by the Red Devils.
As per The Sun, “the players think it would be madness if he was not offered a new deal”, although Man Utd are likely to offer Maguire a new deal that includes a pay cut.
