Man Utd want to replace Ten Hag with Portuguese coach?

Amorim eyed by United

Manchester United are exploring the possibility of replacing Erik ten Hag with Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim.

The Red Devils have had a poor start to the Premier League campaign and they have accumulated only eight points after seven games.

Ten Hag continues to receive the backing from the hierarchy, but he could be sacked if the club’s fortunes don’t improve drastically soon.

Florian Plettenberg now reports that United are weighing up their options to replace Ten Hag, suppose they are compelled to sack him.

United have made specific enquiries for Amorim, who guided Sporting to the Primeira Liga title last season ahead of favourites Benfica.

Amorim is not planning to leave Sporting in January as he has big ambitions, but there is a release clause for next summer.

United may have to wait for the Portuguese tactician until then.

Ruud van Nistelrooy could be handed interim charge at the club until next summer if Ten Hag is dismissed over the coming weeks.
