Raum wanted by Man Utd

Manchester United are interested in signing RB Leipzig left-back David Raum, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The Red Devils are likely to prioritise a new left-back next year with the persistent injury problems for Luke Shaw.

Raum is one of the candidates identified by the hierarchy and it is claimed that contact has been made with the player.

The German is presently nursing an ankle injury and United plan to monitor him before weighing up a possible approach.

Raum was spectacular for Leipzig last term with 16 goal involvements, but he has had limited impact this season due to injury.

The 26-year-old is expected to return in early 2025 and United could make an offer when the transfer window reopens.

Raum is open to pursuing a bigger challenge away from Leipzig and United should have an upper hand over other suitors.

They have already established a relationship with the player’s entourage and could bring him to Old Trafford in the near future.

Raum would be a good fit for the left wing-back role under manager Ruben Amorim, having played there during his spell with Hoffenheim.
