The Denmark U18 international joined the Red Devils in a high-profile move from Arsenal in August and he signed scholarship terms with the Old Trafford outfit upon his arrival at the club.

However, he is expected to pen his first ever professional contract on Friday – the day of his 17th birthday – according to Danish outlet Tipsbladet.

Obi-Martin netted 32 goals in 24 games for Arsenal’s U18 side last campaign, but he made the shock decision to leave the Gunners and join Man Utd this summer, despite the north London club’s desire to keep him.

He has already scored four goals in four appearances for Man Utd’s U18s, including a hat-trick on his first start for the club, however he is yet to make his U21 debut for the Red Devils.

Despite this, recent reports suggest that Obi-Martin could be “fast-tracked” into the senior set-up under new boss Ruben Amorim.

The 16-year-old is unlikely to be given any meaningful minutes in the first-team this season, though, with Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford all options through the middle.

Instead, his development is expected to be monitored by Amorim and his coaching staff, with the view of eventually breaking into the first-team when he is ready.

Man Utd’s transfer plans

While Man Utd are planning to hand Obi-Martin his first professional contract, the Red Devils are also monitoring several transfer targets across Europe.

Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres has emerged as a priority signing, while new head coach Amorim is reportedly desperate to sign a left wing-back in 2025.

Rayan Ait-Nouri, Alphonso Davies and Theo Hernandez are all being pursued by the club, with Ben Chilwell also linked with a move in recent weeks.
